Jack L. Sommerville, 86, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1935 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late John and Gladys (Reed) Sommerville. Jack has always been known for being a hard worker. He was a retired farmer, and he owned his own semi that he used to haul grain and fertilizer. Jack also operated heavy equipment for the Indiana State Highway Department for 11 years. Jack was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church near Scottsburg, Indiana. In addition to his parents Jack is preceded in death by his son, Jay Sommerville and sister, Joyce Vanmeter. Survivors include: his companion, Mary Ann Griffin of Scottsburg, Indiana; two nieces, Diana (Jim) Blanton and Donna (Jeff) Hubbard both of Scottsburg, Indiana; and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Tyler Griffin officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and after 10:00 am Wednesday at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church.
