James "Danny" Daniel Dever, age 75, passed away on January 5, 2025, at Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation in Salem, Indiana. James was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Roger (Hassie) Dever and Beatrice (Ollie) Emerson. James married the love of his life, Alice (Hays) Dever of Scottsburg, Indiana on July 20, 2014. James was presently employed at Gary Johnson Trucking in Louisville, Kentucky. James was an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Kentucky and the Cincinnati Reds. James completed two tours of duty in the Vietnam War with the US Army. He held memberships in the Scottsburg American Legion and Scott County VFW Post 6582. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his first wife Diana Dever; brothers and sisters, Brenda, Deloris, Seymour, Ronnie, David & Jackie; and a grandson Clint Morton. James is survived by his loving wife, Alice Dever of Scottsburg, Indiana; daughter, Rhonda Davidson; sister, Gerri Cain; four grandchildren, Andrew (Heaven) Elliot, Tabitha (Casey) Walsh, Brandon (Mary) Morton, Nathan (Taylor) Morton; and eight great grandchildren, Landon, Camdon, Aidden, Bryson, Colton, Hailey, Joni and Brenlee. The memorial service for James Dever will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 11:00am at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Matt Criag officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service Monday from 10:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Henryville, Indiana.
