James Robert Feltner

James "Jim" Robert Feltner, 84, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on June 19, 2026, at Lake Pointe Village Nursing Home in Scottsburg.

Jim was born on March 24, 1942, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Farris and Oda Feltner. He married the love of his life, Linda Carol Feltner, in April 1964, and together they shared many years of love, family, and cherished memories.

Jim retired from Cummins Engine Plant in Columbus, Indiana, after 36 years of dedicated service. He was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment to providing for his family.

Family was the center of Jim's life. He was actively involved in his children's lives and enjoyed coaching youth basketball and Little League teams during their younger years. He had a lifelong passion for basketball and was a devoted fan of Indiana University basketball. Jim also held season tickets to Scottsburg Warriors and Warriorettes basketball games and rarely missed an opportunity to support his hometown teams.

In addition to sports, Jim enjoyed woodworking, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. His craftsmanship, warm smile, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Jim will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his generous spirit, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, encouragement, and love of community.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his step mother, Dorcas "Bobby" Feltner; sister, Betty Richey; brothers, Gene, Charles and Bill Feltner; half brothers, Farris Feltner Jr., George Feltner. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda Carol Feltner; daughter, Melanie Shafer(Terry); son, Eric Feltner; half sisters, Patsy Hazelwood, Jackie Russell; along with 4 grandchildren; Devin Shafer(Whittney), Destin Shafer(Macey), Ethan Feltner, Breezy Feltner; 4 great grandchildren, Hadley, River, Kaizlie, Kainley; lifetime best friends, Phil & Sandra SweanyThere will be a Private Graveside Service held for James. There will also be a Celebration of Life held at a later date to be announced.
