Obituary

James A. "Jim" Mummert, 80, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on February 5, 1940 in Scott County, Indiana, the son of the late Harrison and Hallie (Shambaugh) Mummert. Jim was a retired electrician for Dane's Electric in Scottsburg, Indiana, was a former employee of Arbuckle Electric and a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church. Jim was a retired volunteer fireman for the Johnson Township V.F.D., was a veteran of the Indiana Army National Guard and Scott County 4-H, where he was involved in shooting sports programs. He and his wife Norma Jean were proud Charter Members of the Friends of Hardy Lake. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and especially gardening and raising black berries. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Mummert and a sister, Nora B. Jenkins. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Norma Jean (Williams) Mummert; two sisters, Judy Smith of Scottsburg, Indiana and Lois Beatty of Washington State; a stepdaughter, Pam Schloesser of Minnesota; a stepson, Donnie Enden of Deputy, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Mohon officiating. Visitation: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Cremation is being requested following Jim's services. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate.
