James Luther Robbins, 83, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on August 11, 1939 in LaFollette, Tennessee, the son of the late William McKinley and Parlie (Miller) Robbins. On March 21, 1958 he married Ada M. (Carmack) Robbins, who passed away September 15, 2021. He was retired from the Scott County Highway Department in Scottsburg, Indiana. Luther also worked for many years at the Scott County School District #2 as a school bus driver. He was a longtime member of the New Providence Baptist Church in Austin, Indiana. Luther and Ada used to participate in their local bowling league and attend classic car shows for many years together. He was a member of the Scottsburg Masonic Lodge Lodge # 572, a past Scott County 4-H leader, and an avid bowler. Along with his love for classic cars, Luther was known for being an avid University of Kentucky and Dale Earnhardt fan. In addition to his parents and wife, Ada, Luther was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Clarence, and Henderson Robbins; two sisters, Nola Combs and Mayme Seaver. Survivors include son, Robbie R. Robbins of Scottsburg, Indiana; daughter, Rhonda K. (Tom) Cutshall of Austin, Indiana; one sister, Helen Bannister of Lexington, Indiana; two grandchildren, Matthew (April) Cutshall of Owenboro, Kentucky and Derin (Tallas) Cutshall of Crothersville, Indiana; four great grandchildren , Teagan and Tatum Cutshall of Crothersville Indiana and Maddox and Parker Cutshall of Owensboro, Kentucky; and his caregiver and guardian angel, Sherry Smith. Funeral Service Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11:00am at New Providence Baptist Church in Austin, Indiana with Pastor Randy King officiating. Visitation 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2023 and after 9:00 am Saturday prior to services at New Providence Baptist Church. Interment at New Providence Cemetery in Austin, Indiana.
