Janet K Johnson, 72, of Austin, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on December 9, 1948 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Leonard R. Hurst and Thelma Fern (Rhoten) Hurst. Janet attended Austin High School in Austin, Indiana. She was an avid reader who loved visiting the public libraries. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Kathy Smith and Barbara Helton, and one brother, Michael McNear. Survivors include: daughter, Sondra Holtzclaw of Austin, Indiana; sister, Regina Hughbanks of Scottsburg, Indiana; two grandchildren, Shauna and Todd Hook; and three great-grandchildren, Brycen, Emma, and Oaklee. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Calloway officiating. Visitation: 10 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Interment will follow at Zoah Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
