Janice Louise Nowlin, 85, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at Lake Pointe Village.
Born on September 19, 1940, in Scottsburg, Indiana, Janice was the beloved daughter of Lloyd E. "Ick" Watterson and Helen G. Watterson.
Janice was a member of the Scottsburg High School Class of 1958. She married Howard W. Nowlin in 1958 and was married for 21 years. During this time, she traveled and lived in several states and foreign countries as her husband served in the US Navy.
Janice dedicated 30 years of faithful service to the City of Scottsburg, retiring from the Scottsburg City Clerk's Office. Throughout her career, she was known for her dedication, kindness, and commitment to serving her community.
A devoted member of Scottsburg First Christian Church, Janice's faith was an important part of her life. She cherished her family above all else and found great joy in spending time with those she loved. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and crafting, creating many treasured handmade gifts that will be cherished by family and friends for years to come.In addition to her parents Janice was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Molter; five grandchildren, Jesycka Nowlin, Tony Judd, Kerry Dale Nowlin Jr., Daniel and Patrick Cozart. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Cozart(Rick); three sons, Daniel E. Nowlin(Beth), Kerry Dale Nowlin(Sharon), Dwayne H. Nowlin(Shelley); three sisters, Judith Morris(Gale), Jill Barnett, Joann Reardon(Junior); brother, Jan Watterson(Virginia); along with six grandchildren, Darrick, Sarah, Trevor "TJ"(Robbie), Chrissy(Kyle), Danny(Barbara), Bryson(Rachel); four great grandchildren, Nowlin, Layla, Chase, Grayson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 4-7pm. Service will be Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 12pm with more visitation before from 10-12pm. Burial will follow at Scottsburg Cemetery.
