Wanda Jean Wilder, 85, of Austin, Indiana passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at The Waters of Scottsburg in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on May 25, 1937 in Knott County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late John and Laura (Smith) Holland. She married James Wilder, who passed away on Nov. 30, 2008. Jean attended the Scottsburg Church of God in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting. Jean was affectionately known as "Jolly Jean" by her family. She loved to laugh and always had a story to share. She was more than a homemaker, she devoted her life to her family. It wasn't unusual for women to stay at home with the children while their husbands worked. Even by the standard, Jean was an exceptional daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She did this not out of obligation, but out of love for her family. While her family grieves her loss, they take comfort knowing that James and Jean are reunited and together again. Jean was preceded in death by her husband and parents and a sister, Elmo Holland. Survivors include her daughter, Sherry K. (James) Haleman of Austin, Indiana; two sisters, Bonnie DeHart of Scottsburg, Indiana and Patricia Neace-Rice of Austin, Indiana; two granddaughters, Nicole Kilburn and Whitney (Billy) Douglas; and three great grandchildren, Eli Miller, Ari Kilburn and Jada Douglas. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on December 2, 2022 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be on December 1, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on December 2, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at New Providence Cemetery in Austin, Indiana.
