Jennie L. Witten, 73, of Underwood, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Baptist Health St. Matthews in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on February 25, 1947 in Verda, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Taylor and Grace (West) Gay. Jennie graduated from Austin High School in the Class of 1965. She was a former cook at Austin High School in Austin, Indiana, where she worked for ten years and also had worked at the old Holm Industries and Freudenburg NOK both in Scottsburg, Indiana. Jennie was a member of the World Outreach for Christ in Scottsburg, Indiana, was a huge tennis and basketball fan with her favorite team being Duke. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Witten in 1995; three brothers, Ronnie, Jimmy and Taylor Gay, Jr. and two sisters, Janice Pratt and Henrietta Seals. Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Witten of Underwood, Indiana; two brothers, Jerry Gay of Indianapolis, Indiana and Roy Gay of Dupont, Indiana; two sisters, Kathy Gay of Newport News, Virginia and her twin sister, Bennie Sue Smith of Austin, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
