Jess Smith

Jess Smith, age 71, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away in June 2026. Loved deeply by all who knew him, he leaves behind a legacy of family, dedication, and warmth. He will be profoundly missed.

Jess was born on October 27, 1954, to the late Millie Gibson and Jess Smith Sr. He was retired from Cummins, where he gave many years of dedicated service. Above all else, Jess cherished his family and the time spent with those he loved.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Smith, and her partner, Ferrell McIntosh;

He was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought tremendous joy to his life: Jayden, Travis Jr., Grady, and Adriana McCorkle, His partner at the time of his passing Kimberly smith as well as Kim’s grandchildren: Roselynn Lewis, Lillian Lewis, Matthew Scott Lewis, and Kasen Owen Gunter and her daughter Kasey Gunter

Jess was preceded in death by his mother, Millie Gibson, and stepfather, Bill Gibson; his father, Jess Smith Sr.; his brother, Joe Smith; and his nephew, Matt Smith.

He leaves behind many close cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved him dearly. Jess was loved by many, and his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

In accordance with his wishes, Jess was cremated, and a burial date is to be determined.
