Obituary

John Carlo Porter, 81, of Lexington, Indiana passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on September 1, 1941, in Perry County, Kentucky, the son of the late Williams Porter and Otie (Holmes) Porter. John was a member of the local Scottsburg American Legion Post #234 and the North Vernon Moose Lodge #576. He very much enjoyed spending time with friends and family listening to good music and singing karaoke. In addition to his parents John is preceded in death by his late wife, Jean (Fugate) Porter, who passed on August 21, 1982; son, Johnny Porter; six brothers, Bill, Tommy, Jesse, Taylor, Manuel, and Samuel Porter; and five sisters, Helen, Pauline, Billie, Halla Mae, and Thelma. Survivors include son, J.C. (Mary) Porter of Lexington, Indiana; sister, Polly Strong of Austin, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Porter and Tracy (Chris) Banks; eight great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Service following the visitation at Collins Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at New Providence Cemetery in Austin, Indiana with Jeff Porter officiating. Visitation 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at New Providence Cemetery in Austin, Indiana. Memorial contributions can be made to the family for the funeral expenses.
