John D. Wheat, 84, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 26, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Harry Maxwell Wheat and Verla (Brichert) Wheat. John graduated from Male High School in Louisville, Kentucky and also attended the University of Louisville. He was a retired Director of International Export for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company in Louisivlle, Kentucky and was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church. John served in the the U.S. Army Air Force Reserves and was also a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Moose Family Center # 2324 and Westwood Golf Course. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two children, Vicki Joy Wheat and Scott Alan Wheat. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Janet Faith (Trowbridge) Wheat; two sons, Roger Wheat of Scottsburg, Indiana and Phillip Wheat of North Vernon, Indiana; a sister, Sally Williams of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandsons, Scott Allen and Jonathan Ray McCrory and Phillip Forrest Wheat and several nieces and nephews. Cremation services entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment will be at a later date in Scottsburg Cemetery with military graveside honors.
