Obituary

Joseph Alan "Joe" Boswell, 59, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on June 27, 1960 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of Donald R. Boswell and Beatrice L. (Reynolds) Boswell. Joe graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1978 and later married Lorrie Huber on Dec. 5, 1981. He was a former technical engineer for Nortel Networks Corporation, where he worked for 29 years before they closed. He then worked as a subcontractor for AT&T for several years. Joe was a hard worker from a young age, whether working on the farm, on technical projects or in the office. He a member of the Church of the American Martyrs in Scottsburg, Indiana, the Knights of Columbus Council # 8052 and former member of the Moose Family Center # 2324. He enjoyed playing golf and working outdoors, but most of all when he was able to be home from his work, he loved spending time with his family. Sunday nights and holidays were spent with his extended family, playing card games and romping with the kids. Joe was preceded in death by his grandmother, Martha (Ritter) Boswell; two brothers, William D. and Kenneth R. Boswell and a niece, Taryn Rooks Vires. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lorrie Boswell; two daughters, Sarah Jones and husband Chris of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lindsey Boswell of Bloomington, Indiana; a son, Andrew Boswell and wife Lindsey of Scottsburg, Indiana; his parents, Don and Bea Boswell of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, James A. Boswell and wife Jennifer and Steve P. Boswell and wife Charlotte all of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Anna M. Jentzen and husband Henry and Karen A. Alexander and husband Troy all of Scottsburg, Indiana; two grandchildren, Harper Jones and Gavin Boswell and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private and for immediate family only due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, CDC recommendations, State and Local government mandates and the families wishes. Services may be viewed on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. April 7, 2020. A celebration of life will be held with friends and family at a later date.
