Joseph A. Johanningsmeier, 40, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at his home. He was born on December 14,1982 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of John and Linda (Wood)Johanningsmeier. Joseph was a proud member of Church On The Rock in New Albany, Indiana and has been a lifetime member of New Song Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. He graduated from Scottsburg High School and then on to Indiana Tech University where he received a Bachelor's degree. On December 13, 2014, he married the love of his life Jill (Reiners) Johanningsmeier and with this happy union they were blessed with one son, Levi. He worked at Republic Bank as a Computer Tech Engineer. Joseph gave blood at The Red Cross as often as allowed for 10 years. He had a heart to serve others, lending a helping hand wherever he could. He was the truest form of selflessness, putting everyone before himself. He always looked for ways to show God's love through his kind heart and generous spirit. Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Jill (Reiners) Johanningsmeier of Scottsburg, Indiana; son, Levi John Johanningsmeier of Scottsburg, Indiana; his parents, John and Linda Johanningsmeier of Seymour, Indiana; siblings, Chris (Jennifer) Johanningsmeier of Scottsburg, Indiana, Jeff (Brandy) Johanningsmeier of Corydon, Indiana, Jael (Regie) Turner of Columbus, Indiana, Jacob (Hannah) Johanningsmeier of Pekin, Indiana, and Sarah Slade of Columbia, Missouri; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Church On The Rock in New Albany, Indiana with Pastor Jordan Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Church On The Rock in New Albany. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Red Cross c/o Collins Funeral Home, Levi's college fund can be made to Jill Johanningsmeier through Venmo @Jill-Johanningsmeier or donate blood to help others like Joseph would do. Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
