Joyce Petty, 81, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on September 12, 1940, in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Robert T. and Marie (Hobbs) Ely. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scottsburg and a homemaker. Joyce was the best mother, grandmother, and great grandmother anyone could have. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and was always their biggest supporter. In addition to her parents and husband of fifty-seven years, Floyd, Joyce is preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Petty; two infant sons; three infant great grandchildren; brother, Robert Gerald Ely; four sisters, Phyllis Reardon, Wilma Jane Ely, Norma Jean Ely, and Wanda Sue Ely; and one sister-in-law, Carol Ely. Survivors include four sons, Jeffery (Julie) Petty of Scottsburg, Indiana, Russell (Valerie) Petty of Scottsburg, Indiana, Andrew (Betsy) Petty of Crothersville, Indiana, Benjamin (Sherry) Petty of Scottsburg, Indiana; two daughters, Donna (Tony) Gabbard of Scottsburg, Indiana and Brenda (Chris) Williams of Lexington, Indiana; sister, Rita Ely Masnick; brother-in-law: Charles Reardon; daughter-in-law, Anita Hester; eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana with Phil LaMaster officiating.
