Katherine Deaton, 74, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg, Indiana with her family by her side. She was born on August 19, 1949, in Manchester, Kentucky to the late Joe and Mollie (Eversole) Lewis. Katherine was a passionate traveler who always loved exploring new places. A past member of the Crothersville VFW post #1083 Women's Auxiliary, where she served as its past president, embodying a true spirit of service and community. In addition to her parents and husband of fifty-seven years, David "Pappy" Deaton, Katherine is preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Schmidt and Rosetta Helton; two brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis and Frankie Lewis; one brother-in-law, Bret Vires; one sister-in-law, Shirley Lewis; one son, Jonathan Deaton; and one grandson, Brian Gary. Katherine leaves behind a legacy of love and family devotion. Survivors include five daughters, Michelle (Rob) Gary of Marysville, Indiana, Billie (Michael) Beach of Heiskell, Tennessee, Angela (Dale) Deaton-Robbins of Scottsburg, Indiana, Sonya Ray of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Amy Booth of Scottsburg, Indiana; son, Joseph Deaton of Scottsburg, Indiana; three sisters, Bonnie (Tim) Roll, Anna (Carl) Thomas, and Eva Vires; three brothers, Bobby (Joanna) Lewis, Michael (Novon) Lewis, and Freddie Jo (Barb) Lewis; one brother-in-law, Clarence Schmidt; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Katherine's nurturing spirit and compassion were evident to all who knew her, especially her beautiful grandchildren whom she adored and spoiled endlessly. Funeral Service 1:00 pm Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Tyler Griffin officiating. Visitation 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday prior to services.
