Obituary

Kathleen "Katie" Akin, 78, of Underwood, Indiana passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, surrounded by her family at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on February 16, 1945 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Garrett Davidson and Ida (Baker) Davidson. As a young child, Katie grew up on her family farm in Lexington, Indiana where she spent many of her younger days with her siblings, cousins and her best friend, Connie Fouts-Carr. In her adulthood she attended Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. Katie enjoyed time playing cards, especially canasta, annual camping trips to Friendship with her siblings, cooking delicious meals for the entire family and spending quality Mamaw time with her grandbabies. On October of 1991 she married Claude Akin, who preceded her in death in 2018. She is survived by her four children, Jack (Amanda) Davidson of Underwood, Indiana, Connie (Mark) Perry of King George, Virginia, Tim (Laura) Akin of Columbus, Indiana, and Judy Lee of Columbus, Indiana; a beloved daughter in law; Sonia Davidson of Scottsburg, Indiana; four brothers; Richard Davidson of Lexington, Indiana, Randall (Sue) Davidson of Underwood, Indiana, Gary (Pricilla) Davidson of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Paul (Angel) Davidson of Sellersburg, Indiana; one sister, Gearleen Thevenow of Scottsburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Chelisse (Andrew) Redman of King George, Virginia, Luci Akin of Columbus, Indiana, Gabrielle (Juan) Luzon of Raleigh, North Carolina, Emilee (James) Davidson of Scottsburg, Indiana, Ethan (Katie) Davidson of Scottsburg, Indiana, Jackson Taylor of Underwood, Indiana, and Evan Davidson of Scottsburg, Indiana; and three great grandchildren, Mickey Pierce, Luca Luzon, and Kieran Redman. In keeping with Kathleen's wishes cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
