Kristin Maria Nass

Kristin Maria Nass, 66, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on November 3, 2026, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 10, 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late David and Mary Ann (Bakke) Nass. Kristin attended Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in health and physical education. Kristin taught in Grinnell, Iowa for 11 years. She developed a passion for serving in school administration. She earned her master's degree in education which opened the door for her to become a principal in Scottsburg. She led Scottsburg Middle School for 26 years. Kristin served with excellence. She officially retired in 2020, yet returned as a substitute teacher for a year, and then as the SCSD2 Program and Grant Manager for four additional years, before retiring again in June 2025. Away from work, Kristin enjoyed traveling, reading, sports, and spending time with her 15 nieces and nephews. Kristin dedicated her life to serving and loving her family and community well. However, her most important dedication occurred on August 28, 2026 when Kristin recognized that this world is impermanent and she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She repented of her sins and fully placed her hope and trust in Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit she became a new creation and devoured God's word and promises until her final days. Kristin is preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Francis Nass. She is survived by her partner, Cheryl Miller; her sisters, Heidi (Jason) Garner and Kari (Tom) Woodward; her brother, Steffan (Sandy) Nass; and a cherished family of fifteen nieces and nephews, and four great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply. A memorial service to honor Kristin Maria Nass will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 12:00pm at Scottsburg Middle School, where she made a lasting impact on the community. Prior to the memorial service, there will be a visitation at Scottsburg Middle School from 11:00am to 12:00pm. There will be a visitation on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Cremation was entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kristin’s name to support Bree's Blessings or the Scott County Community Foundation, the Kristin M. Nass Education Fund, in c/o Collins Funeral Home.
