Obituary

Larry S. Comer, 46, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on November 8, 1974 in New Albany, Indiana, the son of the late Albert Comer and Betty (Beasley) Comer. Larry graduated from West Washington High School in the Class of 1993 and then received his Associate's Degree from Ivy Tech in 1994. He would later earn his Paramedic certification in 1998. Larry was an employee of the Rainbow Design Company in Louisville, Kentucky and also had worked as a security guard for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. He was given a Disney Hero award for his efforts in saving a cast member's life. Larry was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Crothersville, Indiana and was a Master Mason at the Georgetown Lodge # 480 F.& A. M. in Georgetown, Indiana. He was also a member and very involved in the start of the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department in Fredericksburg, Indiana, where he took pride in serving as a first responder. Larry was also very involved in the Scott and Clark County EMS Departments after moving to Scott County. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Comer. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Jessica (Gay) Comer; two daughters, Baylee and Sarah Comer of Scottsburg, Indiana; his mother, Betty Comer of New Albany, Indiana; his grandmother, Eva Terry of New Albany, Indiana; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Burns officiating. Funeral services may be viewed by the public on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 1:00 pm on Sunday. Visitation: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday at Collins Funeral Home. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed and will be limited to 25 people in the building. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate. Interment will be Lexington Cemetery.
