Larry Dale Richey, 78, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on January 18, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Larry was born on August 30, 1947, in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of Emerson and Charlotte Richey. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. Following his service, Larry worked in security at the Charlestown Powder Plant, from which he retired, and later continued working in security at Southern Indiana Rehabilitation.
Larry was a Christian by faith and was an active member of several organizations, including the Moose Lodge in Scottsburg, the VFW in Austin, Indiana, and the American Legion Post 232 in Scottsburg.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Larry loved hunting, fishing, and riding his side-by-side. He cherished spending time with his family and friends and was well known as a great Euchre player. Larry will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his devotion to his family, and his friendly, easygoing nature. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Richey; two sisters, Debra Richey and Donna Lizenby; and two brothers, Mark Richey and Pat Richey. He is survived by his close companion, Cathy LaMaster; daughter, Amy Weaver(Trevor); son, Anthony Richey(Angie); step children, Kim Higdon, Skip Swift(Donetta), Ben Mason(Amy); brothers, Henry Richey(Shirley), Rex Richey; sister, Diane Hahn; along with eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. There will be a visitation held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 10:00am - 12:00pm with service to follow at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Burial will follow at New Castle Cemetery, New Castle, Kentucky.
