Linda Thomas, 69, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on September 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 29, 1956, in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Samuel Edward Mills and Charlsie (Brock) Mills. Linda graduated from Evarts School in the class of 1974 in Evarts, Kentucky. On August 31, 1974, Linda married the love of her life, Wendell Thomas, and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2013. A devoted caregiver and certified nursing assistant, Linda dedicated her career to nurturing others, embodying compassion and kindness in every aspect of her life. Her passion for helping people was matched only by her love for her family and her cherished time spent with animals. Linda was a longtime volunteer at the Scott County Humane Society here in Scottsburg. Her love for animals was boundless; she often spoke of her gratitude for their unwavering companionship. She found solace in gardening, nurturing every plant and flower as if they were part of her own family. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Wendell. Linda is survived by her two sons, Ethan (Lisa) Thomas and Jesse (Christy) Thomas; daughter, Samantha (Darius) Thomas; sister, Jenny (Bill) Skidmore; brother, Samuel (Deb) Mills; eight grandchildren, Shelby (Dillon) Fred, Jerika (Kendrik) Hobson, Julian Thomas, Wendell Thomas, Sophia Henderson, Emma Thomas, Hudson Thomas, and Ellie Henderson; and two great grandchildren, Caroline and Benjamin Fred. Funeral service for Linda Thomas will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00am at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Friday from 10:00am until the time of service all at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana.
