Lora Hampton, 71, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Scott Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 8, 1949 in Hazzard, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Troy P. Hampton and Stella (Sturgill) Hampton. After high school, Lora earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Indiana University Southeast. Lora was a retired second grade teacher from Austin Elementary, where she worked for 33 years. She loved learning about new technology and board games and also enjoyed having lunch with retired school teacher friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Bane, Virginia Taylor, Geraldine Hampton and Claudia Stoop and two brothers, Troy and Alan Hampton. Survivors include a sister, Zelma Ward of Scottsburg, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews, Wanda Lynn Marbry of Kentucky, Richard and Terry Hampton of Seymour, Indiana, Lee Gross of Florida, Virgil Gross of Ohio, Steve and David Ward of Louisville, Kentucky, Chris Hope of Scottsburg, Indiana, Barbara Shannon of Denver, Colorado, Juanita Richie and Linda Dehart of Austin, Indiana, Sue Scholl of Memphis, Indiana, Ronald Hampton of Indiana, Scott Hampton of Ohio and Jimmy Hampton of Columbus, Indiana. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home with Matthew Craig officiating. Visitation: 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday and after 10:00 am on Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate.
