Obituary

Loretta Stutsman, 94, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on August 21, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 1, 1926 in West Point, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Stiles David Williams and Nora Ellen (Belt) Williams. Loretta graduated from West Point High School in 1943 and then attended the Norton School of Nursing as a Nursing Cadet, graduating in 1947. She was married on Sept. 6, 1947 to William Kenneth "Kenny" Stutsman, who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2016 after 69 years of marriage. Loretta was a retired registered nurse for Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky and a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was a Christian who enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible, spending time with her family, tending her large rose garden and was an amazing cook. She belonged to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Elbert Hugh Williams, David Louis "Pat" Williams and Banus Doyle "Snookie" Williams and a sister, Willie Lucille "Polly" Williams. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Josephine "Big Hon" Sherrill of Shively, Kentucky; three sons, Kenneth Allen (Beth) Stutsman of Jeffersonville, Indiana, James M. Stutsman of Charlestown, Indiana and Dr. John (Rachel) Stutsman of Indianapolis, Indiana; two daughters, Linda S. (Willie) Moenning of Seymour, Indiana and Rebecca S. Stutsman of Louisville, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM on Friday, August 28 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Satterly officiating and Ken Stutsman assisting. Funeral services may also be viewed on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 28, 2020. Visitation: 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and funeral services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive order. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Our Daily Bread Ministries, In Touch Ministries with Charles Stanley, or the church of your choice c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
