Louella Bowling Sims, 88 of Austin, Indiana passed away March 13, 2025, at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg. She was born April 4, 1936, to Edmond and Nancy Bowling in Bowlingtown, Kentucky. She came to Indiana as a child and grew up in Scottsburg, graduating from Scottsburg High School in 1955. She lived most of her life in Columbus, Indiana. She loved spending time with her family, taking particular joy in the time she spent with the Hens and Chicks. She was especially proud of the quilts that they made and donated to the We Care auction. She loved playing cards, whether it was Tripoli at Sims family functions, Rummy at the dining room table, or Euchre whenever she could find willing victims. She was an avid bird watcher, a basketball fan, following IU, Columbus North, and the Scottsburg Warriors. She was a fan of Tony Stewart and always acted as the family photographer.  Louella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry D. Sims in 2000 as well as two brothers and a sister. Surviving to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Maxine Sims, her grandchildren, Michael C. E. (Heather) and Kaitlyn E. M. Sims, and great-grandson, Oliver Sims as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends may visit with Louella's family from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and one hour prior to the service at 11:00 am, Thursday at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment will follow at Spurgeon Cemetery. In lieu of memorial gifts, her family suggests memorial contributions be given in Louella's name to the Scottsburg High School Alumni Association.
