Louis Piet, 92, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026 in Seymour, Indiana. He was born on May 30, 1934, in St. Augustine, Florida, he was the beloved son of the late Frank and Antoneca Piet. He dedicated 20 years of honorable service to his country in the United States Air Force, ultimately retiring with the rank of Major. A proud veteran, Major Piet served with distinction and was decorated with numerous military honors, including the Air Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Central to Louis's life was his first wife and the mother of his children, Ora Helton Piet. Together, Louis and Ora built a beautiful life and shared a deep devotion while raising their three daughters. He lovingly supported her until her passing in April 1987. Louis was later blessed with a second marriage to Wilma Gill Piet, with whom he shared many wonderful years until her passing. In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his first wife, Ora Helton, and his second wife, Wilma Gill; and his five brothers, Frank Piet, Jr., Reyes Piet, Ralph Piet, Irwin Piet, and Lonnie Piet. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Debra Hoey (Michael), Marcella Donohue (Bill), and Cynthia Cruz (James); his step-children, Kathy Fox (Randy), Kerrin Hester Jr. (Cheryl), Craig Hester (Treasa), and Eric Hester (Monica); as well as a cherished legacy of twenty-two grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. The service for Louis Piet will be held on Tuesday, October 13,2026, at 11:00 am, visitation at 9:00 am till time of service at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Scottsburg Indiana. Visitation: Monday, October 12,2026 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment will be at Cravens Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
