Martha Ella McDaniel died Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Norton's Hospital surrounded by her family. Martha was born on November 26, 1931, in Letcher County, Kentucky to Noah and Elizabeth (Fields) Eldridge. Martha moved to Southern Indiana and met Valley "Pete" Staples. They were married and had two daughters Wilma Jo "Jody" Creech and Peggy Lee Plessinger.

Martha had three grandchildren, Joshua (Linda) Boley, Jeremiah (Abby) Boley, and Hannah (Robert) Liberty. She was blessed with 4 great grandchildren Devon Boley, Brandon Boley, Rayna Boley, and Hudson Boley.

Martha was always a hard worker. She worked for the US Shoe Factory in Crothersville for 22 years. After her husband, Pete Staples, died she went to work at Cummins Engines in Columbus, Indiana. She met her second husband Henry Colman McDaniel. They were married for almost 35 years when he died.

Martha enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and cross stitching in her free time. She loved gardening and canning vegetables.

Martha had 5 brothers and 1 sister. Estel (Verna) Eldridge and Charles (Vada) Eldridge, both preceded her in death, sister Lillian (Deary who is deceased) Harlin (Betty Ann) Eldridge, Herbert (Clarise) Eldridge and Edgar (Bren) Eldridge, with multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service 2:00 pm Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Chris Johanningsmeier officiating. Visitation 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
