Martha Jean Taflinger, 78, of Lexington, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 31, 1944 in Lexington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ernest "Red" and Anna Marie (McNeeley) Reece. On September 7, 1968 she married James L. Taflinger, who survives. She lived most of her life in Scott and Clark Counties. Martha was owner of the old Martha's Beauty Shop in Lexington, Indiana. She was a member of Bethel Christian Church in New Washington, Indiana and a member of the O.E.S. Blazing Bright Chapter # 597 in Charlestown, Indiana for many years. Martha enjoyed cooking, volunteering, fishing, sewing, gardening, and supporting the fire departments in Hanover and New Washington. Preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Marvin Reece. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James L. Taflinger of Lexington, Indiana; son, Paul Brian Taflinger of Lexington, Indiana; two brothers, Dale (Gay) Reece of Austin, Indiana and Claude R. Reece of Madison, Indiana; sister-in-law, Margaret "Maggie" Farmer of Salem, Indiana; two granddaughters, Jessica Rynea Taflinger of Hope, Indiana and Jodi Lee Taflinger of Madison, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
