Marvin D. McNeely, 93 of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 at his residence. He was born on March 29, 1929 in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of the late Charles E. McNeely and Ethel D. (Nicholson) McNeely. Marvin was an assistant to the lithographer and quality control for the old American Can Company in Austin, Indiana and a local farmer for all of his life. He was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church near Scottsburg, Indiana. Marvin served during the Korean War as a Sergeant 1st Class in the United States Army. He was a member of the Scott County VFW Post # 6582 and American Legion Post # 234 in Scottsburg, Indiana. On July 26, 1953 he married Kathryn Ellen (Bruggenschmidt) McNeely, who passed away on April 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward McNeely; sisters, Grace Faber and Dorothy Warrick. Survivors include his daughters, Karla Coomes of Scottsburg, Indiana, Peggy (Art) Tuttle of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Amy (John) Gray of Greenwood, Indiana; son, Mark McNeely of Scottsburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Jerica Coomes (Steve) Hall, Jeremy (Jessica) Coomes, Ashley Gillespie (Brandon) Weddington, Hunter and Marly McNeely, Jacob and Ethan Gray; and eight great grandchildren, Katie, Sam, Karlee, Max, Owen, Presley, Kellan, and Jameson; sister, Mary Ellen Morgan of Austin, Indiana. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church with Randy McNeely officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Collins Funeral Home and Noon to 1:00 pm Saturday at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana.
