Mary S. Diaz, 92, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at her residence. She was born on November 29, 1927 in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Valent Strinko and Ludmilla (Polkerop) Strinko. Mary was a former employee at the G.E. Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky and had also worked for Olin Mathison and the old I.C.I. Ammunition Plant. She was a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Scottsburg, Indiana, where she had played the organ for many years. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Diaz; a son, Sam Sebastian; a grandson, Daniel Sebastian and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include six sons, Bill Sebastian (Lois) of Louisville, Kentucky, Chuck Sebastian (Kathy) of Scottsburg, Indiana, Dave Sebastian (Janet) of Salem, Indiana, Tom Sebastian (Diane), John Sebastian and Lynn Sebastian (Jayne) all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter, LaVerne Basham-Casado (Mike) of Scottsburg, Indiana; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be private due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, CDC recommendations, State and Local government mandates and the families wishes. They may be viewed on the Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 1:00 pm on Thursday. March 26, 2020 with Rev. Joseph L. Villa officiating. Private interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
