Mary Jo Thomas, 74, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 at her residence. She was born on March 6, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Marion and Emma (Petty) Rose. Mary Jo was a 1966 graduate from Scottsburg High School. On September 20, 1968 she married Emmett Nolan Thomas, who passed away April 13, 2006 . Mary Jo was an employee of Scott County School District #2 as a reading tutor for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana, Girls Athletic Association, YMCA, and the Card Group. Mary Jo enjoyed reading, taking walks, playing cards, water aerobics, cooking, and most importantly watching her grandchildren play sports. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Jean Brocklehurst, Sue McCarnan, and Gary Rose. Survivors include her three daughters, Stephanie (Matt) Waskom of Scottsburg, Indiana, Julie Thomas of Seymour, Indiana, and Amy Thomas of Sellersburg, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kameron (Jamie), Chandler and Parker Phelps, Emma and Lyla Waskom; three great grandchildren Nolan, Annie, and Addie. The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation and love to her wonderful caregivers. They became a close kinit, loving second family. Funeral Service: Friday, July 8, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday, July 8, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home.
