Melvin Nichols, 86, a beloved father and grandfather of Lexington, Indiana passed away on May 13, 2025, at University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born July 7, 1938, in Salem, Indiana to the late Thomas Everett and Mary Josephine (Wilson) Nichols. On February 22, 1956, he married Alice Boley. Melvin was a dedicated dairy farmer who loved working with his cows. He was also a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing, and long buggy rides on his Kabota. He will be remembered as a Leroy's regular where he enjoyed eating. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice Nichols; son, Mark Nichols; sisters, Irene Scifres and Catherine Click, and brothers, Orville and Arnold Nichols. Surviving to cherish his memories are his son, Terry Nichols; his grandchildren, Jason (Vicky) Nichols, Kristi (Patrick Lynch) Nichols, Josh (Kelly) Nichols, Tammie (Scott) Miller, Kelsey (Brad) Burkett, and Corey (Ashley) Nichols and his daughter-in-law, Glenda Nichols. Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Lexington Cemetery with Rev. Terry Eversole officiating.
