Michael "Mike" "Big O" Owens, 74, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on June 17, 1947 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Harold Fred and Alma Jean (Allen) Owens. Mike graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1965. On March 31, 1970 he married Sandee (Moore) Owens, who survives, they were married for 50 years. He was a retired employee of the old American Can in Austin, Indiana and a member of the Scottsburg First Baptist Church. He was an active member at the Scottsburg Moose Lodge #2324 for many years serving as Administrator. He earned the highest honor of the Pilgrim Degree. Mike was a former member at the Redman Lodge and a Scottsburg High School season ticket holder. His main love was for his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, enjoying his yearly golf trip to Myrtle Beach with all his buddies. This year made his forty-first year of going. He enjoyed the boat either playing blackjack or pai gow poker. Survivors include wife, Sandee Owens; two daughters, Leslie (Kevin) Means of Scottsburg, Indiana and Natalie (Michael) Amos of Lexington, Indiana; sister, Lisa K. (Ralph) Schulze of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Jack W. (Debbie) Owens and Thomas E. (Lennie) Owens both of Scottsburg, Indiana; six grandchildren; Morgan Nasby (Dustin), Courtney Means, Taylor Means, Sydney Amos, Skyler Amos, Brody Amos and two great grandchildren, Knox and Grayson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his one brother, Larry E. Owens. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Friday, September 24, 2021, at Scottsburg First Baptist Church with Phil LaMaster officiating. Anybody attending the funeral or visitation will be required to wear a mask inside the church. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, September 23, 2021 and after 11:00 am Friday at Scottsburg First Baptist Church. Interment will follow services at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Following the services at the graveside the family would like to invite everyone to the Scottsburg Moose Lodge for a meal and fellowship at 3:00 pm.
