Michael Loye Thompson, 73, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his home. He was born on May 3, 1949, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to the late Loye "Shorty" Thompson and Norma Jean LaMaster. He retired from Cummins Engine Company as a Purchaser. Michael was a member of Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church and Scottsburg Moose Lodge #2324. He was an avid sports fan, especially basketball, loved playing golf and won the Club Championship multiple times. Most of all he loved and cherished his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Beth Thompson, parents and one brother Randy Thompson. Survivors include his five daughters; Lisa Thompson (Larry) Lee of Odenville, Alabama, Carrie Thompson (Billy) Daniels of Scottsburg, Indiana, Leslie Thompson Carter of Scottsburg, Indiana, Amy Thompson (Jerry) Youngblood of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Jenna Thompson (Brandon) Shields of Lexington, Indiana; two brothers; Bobby Thompson and Jimmy Francis; three sisters, Martha Melton, Linda Chasteen, and Judy Boyd; twelve grandchildren, Chris, Bryan, Ashleigh, Dalton, Ryan, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Kameron, Keyton, Brookelyn, Raelyn, and Camdyn, and ten great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home with Phil LaMaster and Matthew Craig officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and after 10:00 am Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home.
