Mildred A. Righthouse Botsford

April 14, 1933 - July 15, 2023

Mildred A. Righthouse Botsford, 90, of Scottsburg, Indiana peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Mildred was born on April 14, 1933 in Chelsea, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Righthouse and Rose (Wyne) Righthouse. Mildred attended the Safe Harbor Church of God in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was a former member of the American Legion Post #234 Ladies Auxiliary. Mildred was a homemaker and business owner. She had a love for bluegrass music, dancing, playing euchre with loved ones, and feeding her birds and squirrels. Most importantly, she was firmly rooted in her faith and had a passion for gospel music.

Mildred was preceded in death by her son, Roger Barrett; granddaughter Debra Ebert; six sisters Viola Johnson, Norma Jean Barrett, Gladys Myer-Dean, Nancy Chamblee, Violet Righthouse, Ruthie Thomas; and three infant siblings.

She is survived by five children, Joyce Barrett, Linda Bussey, David Barrett, Pamela Barrett, and Kellie Terry; fourteen grandchildren, Janise Claxton (Aaron), Roy Barrett, Ashley Lamb (Justin), Lincoln Lawrence (Ashley), Lindsay Lawrence, Greg Barrett, Stephanie Cady (Paul), Melissa Barrett, Buddy Barrett, Chris Barrett, Mark Lewis, Graham Lewis, Shawn Vetter (Michelle), Kelsie Cornett (Derrik), and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. A private burial will be held at a later date at New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea, Indiana. Cremation was entrusted to Collins Funeral Home.
