Nancy Evelyn (Bowling) Barger, 91, Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. She was born on October 7, 1933, in Clay County, Kentucky, to the late Adam and Rosey (Roark) Bowling. She lived a life of unwavering devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ and His church and to her family. Evelyn graduated from New Washington High School, New Washington, Indiana, in 1952. As a hardworking single mom, she worked for over 20 years at Stucker Fork Water Utility and also served as the secretary for the Stucker Fork Conservancy District Board of Directors. While Evelyn loved UK basketball, her greatest excitement came from cheering on her 3 grandchildren in their school and sports activities. She also loved to travel, always with a friend or group of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Regina (Isaac) Stearns; son, Carl David (Pauline) Barger both of Scottsburg, Indiana; sister, Lois (John) Strouse; two brothers, William Fred Bowling and Adam (Carol) Bowling, Jr.; three grandchildren, Heather Stearns, Samuel (Ellen) Stearns, and Casey (Nathan) Wendel; and a great-grandchild, Bryce Wendel. The service for Evelyn will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be prior to the service Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Scaffold Lick Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana. Memorial donations can be made in Evelyn's name to The Gideons International in c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
