Oda Manilla Toomer, 81, of Lowell, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, in Franciscan Health Crown Point in Crown Point, Indiana. She was born on January 26, 1940, in Clay County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Leonard Collins and Bertha (Spurlock) Collins. She was a claims taker for the Indiana State Unemployment Department. During her time working for the state of Indiana, Oda won an award from the Governor for being employee of the year. Her hobbies included, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Oda attended the Lowell Church of Christ and previously attended Zoah Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Colton; brother, Earl Collins; and sister, Olza Bernhardt. Survivors include a son, Mark (Jennifer) Toomer; daughter, Holli (Brian) Zabek; brother, Oakley Collins; two sisters, Audrey Preble and Darlene Stevens; former husband, Lanny Toomer; three grandsons, Jerry Toomer, Terry Brooke (Genna), and Zachary Zabek; one granddaughter, Breann Zabek; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friend, Edward Kopack. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, December 17, 2021, at Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Hillenburg officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday and after 10 am Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment at Zoah Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
