Obituary

Pastor Bern Kiser, 66, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Scottsburg, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at his residence. He was born on June 27, 1954 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the son of the late Leon and Vessie (Strider) Kiser. After graduating from high school, Bern earned his Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina A.T. & T. He later completed his Master's Degree from Columbia University in Missouri and his Master's of Divinity from the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky. Bern was the Pastor and member of the Lick Branch Baptist Church in Deputy, Indiana and former Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Leota, Indiana and Cove Hill Baptist Church in Carrolton, Kentucky. He loved to read, playing golf with his friends and spending time with his family. Bern's passion was his ministry and sharing the gospel with people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Richard Kiser and a sister, Marylou Kiser. Survivors include his wife of nearly 21 years, Lisa B. (Smith) Kiser; a daughter, Alisa Hart of Long Island, New York; a son, Stephen Todd (Keray) Kiser of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a stepdaughter, Hannah (Derek) Hurley of LaGrange, Kentucky; a sister, Martha Kiser of Orlando, Florida and seven grandchildren. In keeping with Bern's wishes, cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Memorial services will be planned at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to First Tee Louisville at Shawnee Park c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Memorial services can be viewed via Zoom. Zoom Room ID # 8124984506 Password: kiser. Access to the room will begin promptly at 1:00 pm. The service can be heard via FM radio from the Church parking lot on station 87.9. The Church is equipped with two sanctuaries; a mask optional room and a mask mandatory room. Any questions are to be directed to Pastor Rod Asher at 812-498-4506.
