Paul A. "Buddy" Clapp, 90, of Scottsburg, Indiana, formerly of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was born on October 16, 1931 in Charlestown, Indiana, the son of the late Paul M. Clapp and Laura B. Clapp. On March 25, 1952, he married Bonnie D. (Renschler) Clapp, who survives. He served in the Army during the Korean War and attended Hanover College thereafter. Buddy had a great love and devotion to the small town, Lexington, Indiana. He was a member and elder of Lexington Presbyterian Church, owner and operator of Lexington Oil Company for over forty years, and was fire chief for Lexington Fire Department. He spent over twenty years serving on the Scott County School District #2 School Board and was a member of the Scottish Rite in the Masonic Lodge #622. Buddy enjoyed working hard, and he also enjoyed playing hard. He loved to dance and cherished his time out on the boat, skiing with family and friends on the river. Buddy was rarely seen without his sidekick, Paula. His love and dedication to her was unparalleled.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Kevin R. Clapp and David Clapp; and four siblings, Russell Clapp, Connie Carver, Margaret Lou Schaum, and Melvin Clapp. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie D. (Renschler) Clapp; two daughters, Lisa M. (Jeffrey) Conder and Paula D. Clapp, both of Scottsburg, Indiana; one son, Daniel A. (Martha) Clapp of Charlestown, Indiana; five grandchildren, Desiree, Briana, Laurel, Evan, and Hannah; and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation: 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday at Collins Funeral Home and 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Monday at Lexington Presbyterian Church. Memorial Service: 1:00 pm on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Lexington Presbyterian Church with Pastor Aaron Flucke officiating. Masonic services will be held by English Lodge #622 at the funeral home on Sunday at 5:00 pm.
