Penny J. Gay, 65, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on August 31, 1955 in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of the late Dwight Sweazy and Jeanette (Kennedy) Sweazy. Penny graduated in 1973 from Seymour High School and later earned an Associate's Degree. She was a former employee of Luecke Appliance in Seymour, Indiana and also had worked at the old Crothersville Shoe Factory for many years. Penny was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Crothersville, Indiana, where she participated in the choir and loved playing Amazing Grace on the piano. She enjoyed cross stitching, loved to swim and was a member of the Seymour High Divers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Comer. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Paul David Gay; a daughter, Jessica Comer of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Beverly Kinney of Florida and Susie Mull of North Vernon, Indiana; a brother, Ricci Sweazy of Crothersville, Indiana and two grandchildren, Baylee and Sarah Comer. Funeral Service: 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Burns officiating. Visitation: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed and will be limited to 50 people in the building. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate. Internment will be in Lexington Cemetery.
