Phillip P. Stutsman, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on August 28, 1942 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Paul Nathan Stutsman and Velma Louise (Baldwin) Stutsman. Phil graduated from Austin High School in 1960 and later attended Indiana University Southeast. He was a retired machinist for Cummins Engine Company and had worked at both the Columbus and Madison, Indiana plants. After retirement, he worked as a salesman and a driver for Jeffrey's Auto in Scottsburg. Phil also worked as a clerk at AutoZone in Scottsburg, Indiana and while working there they had a mystery shopper come in to evaluate their employees. Phil was recognized for his excellent service by being awarded backstage passes to see Reba McEntire in concert. He was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church, had served in the Indiana Army National Guard and was a member of the National Muzzleloader and Rifle Association. Phil enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, swimming at the YMCA and riding motorcycles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Fields. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, June L. (Robison) Stutsman; his daughter, Michelle Fields and her husband James of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Richard Stutsman of Clarksville, Indiana and Roger D. Stutsman of Scottsburg, Indiana and two grandchildren, Colton D. and Hannah Love-Louise Fields. Cremation was entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. A Celebration of Phil's Life will be held from 2 until 5 pm on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Collins Family Center in Scottsburg, Indiana. Private burial will be at a later date in Lexington Cemetery.
