Phyllis A. Dean, 94, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg, Indiana with her family by her side. She was born on December 24, 1927 in Scott County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Melvin T. and Nellie (Bollack) Miller. She retired from Nine West Factory Outlet, formerly U.S. Shoe Corporation, in Uniontown, Indiana after thirty years. Phyllis was an active member of New Providence Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, Pianist and, was involved in Missionary work. She also spent some time writing a weekly column for the Scott County Journal regarding church news. In addition to her parents and late husband, Robert G. Dean, Phyllis is preceded in death by her brother, George Thomas Miller; sister, Emma Katharine Miller; and son-in-law, Glenn Miller. Survivors include two daughters, Katherine E. Miller of Scottsburg, Indiana and Joy Annell Sabree (Jay) of Carriere, Mississippi; one son, Gregory Dean (Roberta) of Austin, Indiana; five grandchildren, Leigh Funk (Tim), Robert Dean, Patrick Sabree (Amanda), Matthew Sabree and Michael Miller (Dee); seven great grandchildren, Brittany Bowles (Jordan), Chandra Dishman, Lindsey Gary (Stephen), Taylor Funk, Macy Funk, Connor Sabree, and Patton Sabree; and four great great grandchildren, Alexis Gary, Emma Katherine Gary, Remmington Bowles, and Addison Dishman. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Thursday at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Maynard officiating. Visitation: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home.
