Phyllis G. Skelton, 76, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on November 29, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Hubert Owen Lane Jr. and Emma Louise (Shackelford) Barker. She graduated from Valley High School in Louisville, Kentucky and ST. Mary & Elizabeth Nursing School in 1968. On November 27, 1976, in Jeffersonville, Indiana she married Robert P. Skelton, who survives. Phyillis was a retired Registered Nurse in the critical care department in numerous hospitals in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Joshua David Caudill. Survivors include her husband, Robert P. Skelton; two daughters Christina Diann (John Buehner) Cress of Louisville, Kentucky and Dana Leigh Caudill of Scottsburg, Indiana; one brother, William David (Brenda) Lane of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren Cameron Carter, Brooklyn McIntosh, Mandy Barrett, Jacob Barrett, and Gracie Caudill, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and three stepsisters. Visitation will be held at Collins Funeral on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Private graveside service will be at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana at a later time.
