IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rickie L.
Richardson
May 12, 1954 – June 4, 2025
Rickie Lee Richardson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born May 12, 1954, in Paoli, Indiana, to Ralph and Betty Joan Lawyer Richardson. Rick's profound love for God and people was evident in every facet of his life, marking him as a true light in the community.
A proud graduate of Scottsburg High School in 1972, Rick excelled not only academically but also athletically, running cross country and playing basketball during his time there. His passion for sports continued as he later became a coach for the freshman basketball team at Scottsburg High School.
In a cherished love story, Rick married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth "Libby" Richardson, on March 3, 1973. Their bond was celebrated by all, as they were named high school Prom King and Queen. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared faith.
Rick's commitment to serving others was evident through his roles as Deacon and Elder at First Christian Church in Scottsburg. He then accepted God's call to become Pastor of Fairview Christian Church, where he served from 2014 to 2020. He touched many lives with his genuine warmth and steadfast devotion to God.
Prior to his time in the ministry, Rick worked alongside his father, Ralph, in the family business at Scottsburg Feed and Grain before becoming owner/operator of Sprint Oil Company and growing the business to four locations. He had a profound love for his family, especially his children, son Eric Richardson and his wife, Kristen and daughter Jody Lewis and her husband Chad. He was especially proud to be called "G-dad" by his beloved grandchildren, Jamison Lewis, Caden Richardson, Ellie Richardson, Braxton Lewis and Quinton Lewis, who were the light of his life.
Rick's interests extended beyond his work and family. He had a passion for golf, enjoyed water skiing, and was an avid supporter of Indiana University Basketball. His mornings were often spent in quiet reflection with God, followed by journaling his thoughts and prayers each night-a testament to his deep and abiding faith.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Libby; his children, grandchildren, sister, Cindy Hines and her husband, Tim, his extended family, Randy and Carol Chasteen, Steve and Debby Rumple, Greg and Sandy Chasteen and David and Karen Rockey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him.
Friends may visit with Rick's family from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Saturday, June 7, 2025 at First Christian Church and one hour prior to the service at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 8, 2025, also at First Christian Church in Scottsburg. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Christian Church Cemetery.
The family asks that donations be made to Fairview Christian Church to continue Rick's commitment to helping others. Please share memories and condolences at www.collinsfuneralhome.net. Arrangements entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg.
