Rita Mae Bailey, 60, of Blocher, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 8, 1962, in Washington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Francis Leo Spaulding and Joyce Ann (Holland) Hollander, who survives. Rita graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1980. On May 16, 1992, she married John Bailey, who survives. She was a former employee of the old Swifty Oil in Scottsburg, Indiana for twenty years, then was the retail manager for Circle K in Madison and Hanover, Indiana for eighteen years. Rita had a servant's heart and always loved to help others in any way she found possible. She was known to her loved ones as the Smiley Face Queen. For many years her and John would take their road trips together to hunt for smiley faces across the United States. Rita also loved animals, especially her dogs, and being outdoors tending to her garden. She was preceded in death by her father, Francis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Lena Bailey; and brother, John Andrew Spaulding. In addition to her husband, John, Rita is survived by, mother & stepfather, Joyce Ann (Grandville) Holland of Commiskey, Indiana; sister, Susan (Kurt) Woosley of Brownsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Paul (Lindy) Spaulding of Blocher, Indiana and Martin Spaulding of Indianapolis, Indiana; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Robbins of Austin, Indiana, Shirley Ball of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Wilma (Marvin) Richey of Lexington, Indiana, and Joy (Mark) Spencer of Sellersburg, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service 1:00 pm Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Rick Romero officiating. Visitation 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
