Robert "Bob" Akemon

Robert "Bob" Akemon, 69, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on May 27, 2026 at Norton Scott Hospital. He was born on October 28, 1956 in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Robert and Esther Akemon.

Bob was a dedicated Quality Control Technician for Faurecia in Columbus, Indiana. He was a man who truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures and cherished every moment spent with his family. An avid fisherman, Bob loved being on the water and was known for making his own fishing baits. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting ,cheering on his beloved IU team and taking care of his cows. In his younger years, Bob was a very talented basketball player and carried his love for sports throughout his life.

Bob will be remembered for his kind heart, love of family, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Akemon and a granddaughter, Savanah. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Jones(Robert); sons, Shawn Akemon(Pam), Robert "BJ" Akemon, Toby Lawson(Jen); sisters, Willena McIntosh(John Paul), Carol Bunch(Larry); 4 grandchildren, Braxton, Malachi, Hunter, Xavier and 5 great grandchildren, Alaric, Lainey, Theodore, Elliona, Asher.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Tuesday , June 2, 2026 from 3-5pm with service to follow at Collins Funeral Home.
