Obituary

Robert Joseph "Bob" Calder, Sr., 83, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on August 29, 2024, at Lake Point Village in Scottsburg, Indiana with his loving wife by his side. He was born on January 11, 1941, in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, to the late John Clark Calder and Genevieve (O'Connor) Calder. On December 31, 1981, Bob married the love of his life, Lily Louann Martin, and she survives. Robert, known to many as Bob, dedicated his life to serving and protecting others. As a police officer in the hospital security industry, Bob displayed unwavering bravery and commitment to his work. He received his education and later served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, eventually retiring from the Army National Guard. Bob's legacy of service extended into the community, where he was a proud member of the Scottsburg American Legion Post #2324. In addition to his parents Bob is preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Burks; and three brothers, John Calder, Jerry Calder, and Larry Calder. He is survived by his wife, Louann Calder of Scottsburg, Indiana two sons, Robert Calder, Jr. and Daniel Calder; stepson, James Martin Rubey; stepdaughter, Diana Lou Rubey; sister-in-law, Barbara Martin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and one nephew. Funeral will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1:00pm with Matthew Craig officiating at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be prior to the service Friday, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Online condolences:www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
