Obituary

Mr. Ronald D. "Ronnie" Lytle, 78, of Scottsburg passed away in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, April 8, 2022 with his family by his side. Ronnie was born in Scottsburg, Indiana, on April 7, 1944, to the late Robert and Lorraine Lytle. He graduated from Scottsburg High School Class of 1962. He started farming and then went to work at Cummins Engine Company where he retired in 2001 after 39 years. Some of his favorite past-time activities were visiting with friends and family, tinkering in the shop with his son, taking drives with his puppy, Smoke, watching Gunsmoke on TV and sitting down to a competitive game of euchre. Throughout Ronnie's life he was able to enjoy other parts of life like farming and in 1984 he was presented the Honorary Chapter Farmer of the Year. He went to farm shows, loved displaying his tractors at the Leota Frolic, and even did tractor pulling with his brother. Ronnie loved to go camping and motorcycling and he made it to 48 states. He also spent several years as a river rat. On April 9, 1985 he married Marie Stevens Cross and she survives. He is also survived by his children: Rick (Mindy) Lytle, Tammy (Mike) Mosier, and Shannon (Scott) Borden all of Scottsburg; grandchildren: Stephanie (Freddie) Taylor, Rylan and Abigail Lytle, Kasee (Cody) Hobbs, Kari (Anel) Lizdo, and Gavin and Addison Borden; great grandchildren: Ryder and Rigston Taylor, Ty, Rhett and Baker Hobbs, and Emma, Dawson and Kade Lizdo; step grandchildren: Amber, Chasity and Kyle Cross; 6 step great grandchildren; sisters: Roberta (Greg) Dean, and Lisa (Larry) Thomas; brothers: Phil (Patty) Lytle, Mike (Lisa) Lytle, and Jeff (Teresa) Lytle. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Jerry Comer, and stepson David Cross. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13th at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Craig officiating. Visitation will be at Collins Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday after 11:00 a.m. until time of service. A private family graveside service will follow at a later date. The family request memorials be designated to: The Moose Charities, Scottsburg High School (FFA, Boys Basketball or Cheer Team), or Scott County Humane Society in Care of Collins Funeral Home.
