Ronnie Keith Houchens

Ronnie Keith Houchens, 65, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on March 21, 2026, at home with his family by his side. Born on September 4, 1960, in Glasgow, Kentucky, he was a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather. On September 22, 1979, Ronnie married the love of his life, Belinda Kern, and she survives. As a journeyman carpenter, he proudly worked with the Central Midwest Carpenters Union Local #175, demonstrating his skill and dedication in the craft. He was an active member at the Scottsburg Moose Lodge #2324 for many years, serving as a charter member. An avid outdoorsman, Ronnie was a man of simple pleasures and deep passions. He found joy in turkey, deer, and mushroom hunting at the "good old boys hunting cabin," where tales were shared and friendships deepened. He was known to spend countless hours weekly garage sitting with family and friends, and riding his beloved Harley Davidson, cherishing the freedom it brought him. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Romey Houchens; stepfather, Joe Caudell; and brother-in-law, Terry Mauk. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Belinda Houchens; his mother, Sally Caudell; and his three daughters, Tisha Houchens (Todd), Ashley Saunders (Derek), and Kayli West (Chris). He is also survived by his siblings, Sherry Mauk (and the late Terry), Robin Holland, Tracy Houchens (Beth), Shannon Pienaar (Tom), Adam Houchens, Crystal Houchens, and Danielle Emmitt-Hall; and seven grandchildren, Tanner Flaherty, Emma Houchens, Elijah Houchens, Leo Saunders, Neil Saunders, Lucas West, and Lainey McQuady. A memorial service will be held on March 28, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Scott County Moose Family Center #2324. Refreshments will be provided, and a time for prayer and sharing of memories by speakers will take place at 3:30pm. Friends and family are invited to join together to celebrate Ronnie's life and the memories he leaves behind. Cremation services entrusted to Collins Funeral Home.
