Roscoe Carnes, 85, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on May 11, 1936, in Knox County, Kentucky, the son of the late Garrett and Rosie (Mills) Carnes. On December 24, 1959, he married Doris (Pruett) Carnes, who survives. They have been married for over sixty-two years. He was a retired employee of Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana, where he worked for forty-one and a half years. Roscoe was an active member of the Vienna Baptist Church, previously acting as a trustee and honorary usher. He loved his church and family. He enjoyed bluegrass gospel music and attending festivals for bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Chester Arthur, Roy Carnes, and Garrett Carnes, Jr. In addition to his wife, Doris, survivors include his daughter, Evelyn Terry (Jerald) of Scottsburg, Indiana; son, James R. Carnes of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Eugene Carnes (Essie) of Barbourville, Kentucky and Randall Carnes (Carolyn) of Corbin, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Travis Campbell (Brandy), Tanea Carnes, Emily Campbell (Jon Bray), and Brooklyn Carnes; four great grandchildren, Ashton Fowler, Alana Boger, Ayrihanna "Peanut" Hahn, and Andrew "A.J." Hahn; and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great-great grandchild, Carsyn. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, March 11, 2022, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor David Carroll officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 10, 2022, and after 9:00 am Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
