Obituary

Roy F. Hunter, 75, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at The Waters of Scottsburg. He was born on August 2, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Earl Hunter and Juanita (Everhart) Hunter. Roy was a retired laborer for Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana, where he worked for 30 years and attended the Broadway Pentecostal Church in Austin, Indiana. He loved reading books about airplanes and collected models of vintage cars. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by three stepsons, Frank, Scotty and Charles Barrett.Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Lizzie Beth (Deaton) Hunter; a daughter, Angie Hunter of Chicago, Illinois; three stepsons, Boyd Barrett (Delores) and Taylor Barrett (Barbara) all of Austin, Indiana and Hubert Barrett of Scottsburg, Indiana; five stepdaughters, Anna Mae Vancleve (Larry), Dorothy Amos (Marvin) and Linda Montgomery (Gordy) all of Austin, Indiana, Aileen Estes (Virgil) and Ariel Hunter all of Scottsburg, Indiana and numerous generations of grandchildren. Funeral Service: 2:30 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation: 11:00 am to 2:30 pm on Thursday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed and will be limited to 50 people in the building. Please follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines while attending the services and face masks will be required due to the governor's executive mandate.
